저자 송호근은 Dr. Song, Ho-Keun is Professor of Sociology at Seoul National University. Dr. Song also is an author of many academic publications and popular books that attract over ten thousand readers in average. He was the Dean of International Affairs at Seoul National University (SNU). Since his appointment as Dean in August of 2006, he directs the Office of International Affairs at SNU and spearheads the university's international activities and initiatives. He was the former Chair of the Department of Sociology and Director of The Institute for Social Development and Policy Research at Seoul National University.
Dr. Song received his PhD in Sociology from Harvard University and his MA and BA from Seoul National University. His areas of specialization include Social Policy, Welfare State, Sociology of Labor Markets, Political Sociology, and Korean Society. He has published and lectured widely on these subjects both in Korea and internationally. Dr. Song was a Visiting Scholar at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and taught as a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Rim Studies at the University of California, San Diego. As a prolific and gifted writer, Dr. Song has authored numerous papers and several notable books. Dr. Song has held prominent advisory and editorial roles on Korean government boards and committees and for the Korean Journal of Sociology and the Korean Sociological Association.
