본 서는 경영학 및 사회학에서 중요하게 사용되는 통계분석은 사회현상을 과학적 방법을
통해 설명하고 이론을 개발하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해서
연구자는 상황에 맞는 연구방법과 통계기법을 적용할 수 있는 능력이 필수적이다.
하지만 통계학을 처음 접하는 연구자가 가지는 생각이 “통계학은 어렵다” 이다. 이는
기존의 많은 통계학 연구가 계산에 치중한 결과라 생각한다. 이에 본 저서에서는 경영
학에서 사용되는 연구방법에 대해 가급적 과학적 연구방법을 바탕으로 한 흐름에 맞추
어 설명하고 실제 통계 부분은 계산 위주의 분석이 아닌 Excel을 활용한 실습을 통해
어떻게 분석하고 해석하는지를 중심으로 작성하였다.
경영학에서 많이 활용되는 양적연구방법에 대한 이해를 돕도록 기본적인
개념을 소개하고 설명한다. 또한, 사례 소개에 대해 그림과 도표를 활용하여 연구방법
에 대한 개념을 시각적으로 이해하는 데 도움이 되도록 하였으며, 각 장의 마지막에
연습문제를 통해 복습을 돕도록 했다. 통계기법에 대한 설명을 위해서는 누구나가
쉽게 접할 수 있는 엑셀 프로그램을 이용하였으며, 사례를 통한 결과해석에도 많은
부분을 할애하였다.

중앙대학교 경제학 학사중앙대학교를 경제학과를 졸업하고 고려대학교에서 석사학위(경제학)를, 미국 뉴욕주립대학교 버펄로 캠퍼스에서 박사학위(경영학)를 취득하였다. 에너지경제연구원에서 부연구위원을 역임하였고 2017년부터 계명대학교 조교수로 근무 중이다. 서비스경영, 생산운영관리, 공급사슬관리, 품질경영, 경영과학 등의 수업을 담당하고 있다.
