머리말



학생의 입장에서 부인과라는 과목은 생소하고 어려울 수밖에 없습니다. 여성에게서 일어나는 생리적, 병리적 현상을 이해하기 위해서는 다양한 분야의 탄탄한 기초가 필요합니다. 여성의 생식기 주변의 자세한 해부학, 여성에게서만 일어나는 특이적인 생리적 변화, 그에 따라 다른 양상으로 일어나는 병태생리학적 반응을 이해해야 합니다. 이런 기초 위에서 지식을 임상에 어떻게 적용시켜야 할지 새로이 배우게 됩니다. 다른 과목이라고 다르진 않겠지만 부인과 임상실습을 돌면서, 혹은 강의를 들으면서 몇 개월 만에 배우기는 힘든 것이 사실입니다. 이런 이유 때문에 학생을 위한 참고서들이 등장하게 되었습니다.



부인과학의 교과서라 할 수 있는 Berek&Novak's Gynecology 15판이 출시되었고, 이 책에 실려 있던 여러 좋은 자료들이 새로이 업데이트 되었기에 개정을 하게 되었습니다. 개정을 하면서 가장 조심했던 부분은, 앞서 말한 기초를 잃지 않는 것이었습니다. 학생이 보면서 공부할 수 있게 기초분야에 대한 충실한 설명을 토대로 하고, 그 위에 새로운 지식, 배워나가야 할 지식을 쌓아올리려고 노력하였습니다. 처음 보는 용어도 많고 생소한 개념들이 많이 등장하여 학습하는데 어려움이 많겠지만 처음부터 꾸준히 읽어 나가며 학습할 수 있도록 구성하였습니다.



최신의 내용을 담으면서도 가장 기본이 되는 내용을 잃지 않으려고 노력하였고, 그러면서도 쉽게 읽힐 수 있도록 애썼습니다. 부디 이 책을 읽는 학생 여러분들이 쉽게 부인과를 접하고 이해할 수 있으면 하는 마음입니다.
