Asia in Mobility

Asia in our discussion represents not a solid but a relative and relational place generated and created by the vectors of mobility. What is at stake is, then, how transcultural practices of the returning migrants through the axes of mobility－whose historical origin is the imperialistic, (post) Cold War and globalizing drive and regulation, can transform Asia into a more democratic and ethical space of every day lives beyond the regional and national boundaries. This book seeks to find answers to these questions through the mobility practices in the colonial/imperial, Cold War and global Asia.



우리는 아시아를 지리적이고 물리적인 공간이 아닌 이동의 힘들과 선들에 의해 생성되고 창출되는 상대적이고 관계적인 공간으로 접근한다. 제국주의와 탈/냉전 그리고 지구화가 촉발하고 규제한 이동성의 축을 따라 귀환하는 이주자들의 트랜스컬츄럴한 실천은 아시아가 지리적 권역을 넘어, 국민국가의 경계를 넘어, 민주적이고 윤리적인 일상공간으로 전환될 수 있는지를 묻고 있다. 이 책은 식민지/제국, 냉전, 글로벌 시대에 아시아에서 벌어진 이동들을 통해 이러한 물음의 답을 찾아가고 있다.
