<시문학>으로 등단했으며 천상병시상, 윤동주문학상, 대한민국문화예술상을 수상한 이길원 국제펜클럽 한국본부 이사장의 영역시집. 《집에 대한 예의》 《가면》 《어머니의 노을》 등, 삶에 대한 고백과 통찰이 인상적인 저자의 시편을 영역하여 원문과 함께 엮었다. 여기에 저자의 시세계를 알 수 있는 대담문과 Deberniere J. Torrey의 작가론 을 부록으로 소개하였다.
Lee has lived through the dizzying transformations of the latter part of Korea's twentieth century, and many of his poems juxtapose images of the past with the present, or of the countryside with city life, sometimes in critique, sometimes in a simple recollection of things left behind in the relentless forward thrust of modern society.

I read Gil-won Lee's Sunset Glow with fascination. It was beautifully translated into English and the result was strong, disturbing poetry.
"Are we not those who have nothing more to lose?
When the plowed earth shows its inner flesh.
Let us plant some scallion roots".
It isn't an optimistic message, but it is a real one.
