모든 디자인은 영감을 얻는 것에서부터 시작되고, 영감으로부터 발전되어 완성된다.

그럼 우리는 무엇을 통해서 영감을 얻을 수 있을까?



'숨결, 숨쉬다'라는 말의 어원과 연결되는 단어가 바로 inspiration(영감)이다. 'in'은 '들어가다, 스며들다'를 뜻하고, 'spire'는 '숨'을 뜻한다. 즉, 영감이란 숨을 불어 넣어 주는 것과 같다.



이번에 담디에서 기획한 『sow DESIGN SEED in your mind』는 숨결을 불어넣듯 영감의 씨앗들을 담아 전달한다. 5개의 각기 다른 씨앗들은 디자이너들의 다양한 방법론을 담고 있다. 그들은 때로는 철학적으로, 때로는 단순하고 유머러스 하게 그들의 문제를 해결해나간다.

'나라면 이 문제를 어떻게 풀었을까?', '나라면 어떤 컨셉으로 발전시켰을까?'라는 생각이 꼬리를 물고 이어진다면 이미 당신의 마음 속에 디자인 씨앗이 심기기 시작한 것이다.



무슨 열매의 씨앗인지 알고 심었다고 하더라도 그 씨앗을 키우고 가꾸는 사람에 의해 열매를 맺는 모습은 각기 다르다.

이 책에 담겨 있는 자료(씨앗)는 불변하지만 이를 활용하는 사람에 의해 각기 다른 수많은 아이디어(열매)들이 새로이 탄생하길 기대해본다.
