Ecology and Korean Confucianism(계명 한국학 총서 34)(양장본 HardCover)

본 책은 생태학에서 주목하고 있는 동양의 전통사상 중 유교사상에 초점에 맞추어 연구한 논문들을 엮은 것으로써 2011년 6월 계명대학교 한국학연구원에서 개최한 제5회 국제학술대회(The 5th Keimyung International Conference on Korean Studies:KICKS 2011) "korean Confucianism and Ecology" 의 발표 논문들이다. Tu Wei-ming 교수와 홍원식 교수의 기조강연원고와 Michael C. Kalton, Philippe Thiebault, Kwon Chee-yun, Edward Y. J. Chung, Ro Young-chan, Donald Baker, 유권종, 김세정, 김종원 교수의 연구논문이 수록되어있다.



지구의 환경과 생태 위기의 문제에 대해서 이미 오래전부터 많은 학자가 깊은 우려를 나타냈고 그동안 이 문제의 해결을 위해 많은 노력을 해왔다. 기존의 노력을 계속 이어가야 함은 물론이지만, 한편으로 우리는 우리 자신의 사고방식과 삶의 태도에 대해 근본적인 반성과 성찰을 요구받고 있다. 이것은 세계관과 관계된 문제이고, 인식과 윤리와 관계된 문제이다. 이러한 문제의식을 기초로 유교사상을 통해 전개한 생태학 관련 저서 중 대표적인 것이 1998년 하버드대학교 출판부에서 출간된 Confucianism and Ecology이다. 본 Korean Confucianism and Ecology는 그 후속 저술이라고 할 수 있겠다. 한국에는 퇴계 이황과 율곡 이이, 다산 정약용과 같은 뛰어난 유학자들이 있었으며, 한국은 그 어느 나라보다도 유교의 영향이 컸다. 이들의 사상과 삶이 오늘날 전지구적, 전인류적 과제인 생태위기를 극복하는 데에 조그만 보탬이라도 될 수 있기를 기대하면서 한국학연구원에서는 본 책을 출판하게 되었다.

계명대학교 한국학연구원 저자 계명대학교 한국학연구원은 1970년 5월1일 설립되어 지금까지 어학, 문학, 역사학, 한문학, 철학, 예술학, 민속학 등 한국학 여러 분야에서 자료를 수집하고, 학술연구를 진행해 오고 있다. 한국학연구원은 매년 4회의 『한국학논집』(국내학술지 : 한국연구재단 등재)과 매년 2회의 『Acta Korean』(국제학술지 : A&HCL, SCOPUS 등재)를 발간하고 있으며, 매년 연구총서를 발행하면서 한국학 연구의 중심으로 성장하고 있다.
