고독을 담담히 읊조리는 詩와 그림

목민나(Minna Mok)의 영시집 'The Alone'은 제목에서 말해주듯 외롭고 쓸쓸하며 때로는 부조리로만 가득한듯한 삶을 담담히 조금은 건조하게 읊조리는 시(詩)들을 묶었다. 약간 차갑고 어두운 감성 한 편으로는 자연의 아름다움에 감탄하고 사람사이의 정을 느끼며 정의가 실현되기를 바라는, 밝고 건전하고 이성적인 인격이 힘차고 당당하게 자리하고 있다. 이처럼 풍부한 감정이 녹아있는 시(詩)들과 시(詩)와 기묘하게 어울리는 그림과 사진들이 영어를 사용하는 어느 독자의 지친 어깨를 차분히 다독거릴 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

The collection of English poems titled 'The Alone' captures the dry loneliness of life and with it all its irregularities. A myriad of personas dominate this collection - on one side a positive-minded idealist marveling at the beauty of nature and its people and on the other, a cold and dark cynic viewing the world with intense pessimism. Hopefully these poetry pieces tug at the emotional heartstrings and offer a sort of solace to its reader.

목민나 목민나(Minna Mok)는 자카르타 국제학교(JIS)와 연세대학교를 졸업했다. 어린 시절부터 저자는 가족과 함께 리마, 이바단, 보고르에서 생활하며 다양한 외국 문화를 경험했다. 어린 시절 내내 다른 나라에서 살았던 경험이 그녀의 생각과 성격 형성에 큰 영향을 미쳤다.

자카르타 국제학교(JIS)에서 창의적 글쓰기 강좌를 수강하는 동안, 젊은 시인으로서 그녀의 재능은 지도교사들에 의해 크게 인정받는 수준이었으며 고등학교 시절 내내 저자는 시작(詩作)에 몰두했다. 그 때 시 일부는 뉴욕시의 온라인 잡지에 실리기도 했다.



Minna Mok graduated from Jakarta International School and Yonsei University.

She was exposed to different multicultural backgrounds during her childhood, having lived in Lima, Ibadan, and Bogor with her family, and her diverse childhood experiences played a pivotal role in shaping her thoughts and personality.

While taking up a Creative Writing course at JIS, her talent as a young poet was recognized by her tutors, and writing poetry soon became her passion throughout her high school years.

Some of her poems during that period have been published in an online magazine in New York City.
