Praise for Lee Sangguk

Lee Sangguk 1946년 강원도 양양에서 태어났다. 1976년 『심상』에 「겨울 추상화」 등을 발표하며 작품 활동을 시작했다. 시집 『동해별곡』 『내일로 가는 소』 『우리는 읍으로 간다』 『집은 아직 따뜻하다』 『어느 농사꾼의 별에서』 『뿔을 적시며』 『달은 아직 그 달이다』 『저물어도 돌아갈 줄 모르는 사람』, 시선집 『국수가 먹고 싶다』, 문학자전 『국수』, 동시집 『땅콩은 방이 두 개다』 등이 있다. 백석문학상, 민족예술상, 정지용문학상, 박재삼문학상, 강원문화예술상, 현대불교문학상, 권태응문학상 등을 수상했다.

Lee Sangguk was born in 1946 in Yangyang, Gangwon Province. He made his literary debut in 1976 when a selection of his poetry, including "Abstract Winter Painting" was published in the journal Shimsang. His poetry collections include East Sea Byeol-gok, The Cow Traveling Toward Tomorrow, We Go to the Eub, The House is Still Warm, From Some Farmer's Planet, Drenching the Antlers, The Moon Is Still The Moon, and Someone Who Can't Turn Back Even When It Gets Dark. Lee's other works include the anthology I Want to Eat Noodles, the autobiographical book Noodles and a book of nursery rhymes titled Each Peanut has Two Rooms. He is a multiply-awarded poet and his honors include, among others, the Baek Seok Literary Award, the Folk Artist Prize, the Chong Chi-Yong Literary Award, the Park Jaesam Literary Award, the Gangwon Literature Prize, the Modern Buddhist Literature Prize, and the Kwon Tae-eung Literary Award.
