1. The development of tourism contributed to English becoming the most prominent language in the world. Some people think this will lead to English becoming the only language to be spoken globally. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having one language in the world?
2. Some food travels thousands of miles from farm to consumers. Some people think it would be better for our environment and economy if people only ate locally produced food. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
3. Some people think that job satisfaction is more important than job security. Others think that people cannot expect to enjoy a job and having a permanent job is more important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
4. Some people think that the government should provide free education at every level. However, others say that individuals should pay for their university education. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

15. Having police officers patrolling the streets is often considered an essential way to reduce crime. How effective do you think police street patrols are? What other ways of reducing crime can you propose?
