This book, Understanding L2 Korean Learner Errors, deals with errors made by learners of Korean as a second or foreign language at three levels: orthography, lexicon and grammar. This book identifies and describes a variety of high frequency error types and explains the causes of the errors. It further investigates sources that cause errors by employing descriptive, contrastive, psycholinguistic theories and techniques while dealing with pedagogical implications and presenting focused instructional strategies for selected key error types.

신성철 저자 신성철(호주 뉴사우스웨일즈대학교 인문언어학부 교수)은 뉴사우스웨일즈대학교 언어학과에서 언어학 박사를 취득하고 현재 동 대학교에서 한국학 교수로 재직하고 있다.

외국어/제2언어로서의 한국어 습득, 학습 및 교육과 관련한 다수의 논문을 출판하였고 응용언어학, 교육언어학 및 사회언어학 분야에서 한국어학에 초점을 맞추어 연구하고 있다.



Seong-Chul Shin, PhD in Linguistics, teaches undergraduate and postgraduate Korean courses at the School of Humanities and Languages, University of New South Wales, Sydney. He supervises higher degree research students and conducts research in the areas of applied, educational and socio-linguistics with a particular focus on Korean as a foreign, second and heritage language.
