40여 년간 세계 유적과 인류의 삶을 기록해온 김경상 작가가 유라시아 대륙을 횡단하며 만난 고대 문명과 인간의 뿌리를 다큐멘터리 사진으로 담았습니다. 그의 작업은 기마민족의 이동 경로, 고구려 · 가야 · 삼한, 홍산문화, 백두산 · 발해 · 아나톨리아 · 코카서스 · 중앙아시아 · 알타이 · 바이칼 · 몽골, 한반도 암각화 등 동서 고대사의 현장을 예술적 감성으로 다큐 작업했습니다.. 더불어 메소포타미아, 이집트, 그리스 · 로마 등 인류 문명의 밑바탕을 이루는 현장 작업을 오랬동안 기록했습니다.

김경상 작가의 작품은 바티칸, 뉴욕 ICP 등 세계 주요 기관에 소장되어 있으며, 이번 사진집은 국내외 83회 개인전과 30권 저술의 집대성이라 할 만합니다. 『그리핀의 날개 아래』를 통해 동서 문명의 만남과 인류 정신의 뿌리를 탐구하는 특별한 사진의 여정에 함께하시길 바랍니다.
