Taejae University is Korea's first innovative hybrid university, founded in 2023 to prepare global leaders for the twenty-first century.
Among its defining features are Active Learning, with classes of no more than twenty students centered on rigorous discussion and problem-solving; Global Rotations, through which students spend extended periods at university campuses in the United States, China, Japan, and Russia, engaging with each country's history and culture while developing global citizenship and leadership; and self-designed majors that allow students to shape their own academic paths. Together, these innovations define a new educational model for the age of AI and set Taejae fundamentally apart from conventional universities.
Through a close look at Taejae University's bold new endeavor, this book invites us to fundamentally rethink the kind of higher education the twenty-first century truly needs.

염재호 Jaeho Yeom graduated from the Department of Public Administration at Korea University's College of Law and earned a PhD in political science from Stanford University. He began teaching public administration at Korea University in 1990 and later served as its 19th president. Since 2023, he has served as the inaugural president of Taejae University.
He has held numerous government positions, including inaugural vice chairperson of the National Artificial Intelligence Committee, chairperson of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Yeom has dedicated his career to charting innovative directions for higher education and reimagining the future of the university. As the inaugural president of Taejae University - Korea's first innovative hybrid university - he is pioneering a new paradigm for higher education.
